Auckland, New Zealand – A fresh online program, IELTS LIVE ONLINE, has been launched to empower students in their preparations for the IELTS Academic and General Training exams. Spearheaded by Dr. Ryan James Whitehouse, affectionately known as Kru Jaem, at Thinkin Cafe, this initiative aims to provide high-quality education at an accessible price, welcoming learners from diverse backgrounds.
Dr. Ryan James Whitehouse, born in Auckland in 1987, began his educational journey at Edmonton Primary School in Te Atatu South. His experience at Rangeview Intermediate School included a memorable two-week student exchange to Singapore and Japan, which he describes as “an amazing experience” that underscored the importance of cultural exposure for young learners. By 2000, while attending Rutherford High School, he cultivated friendships with international students from Brazil, China, and Taiwan, attributing his connections to a cultural sensitivity that made others feel at ease.
Currently available in Australia, New Zealand, and Thailand, the IELTS LIVE ONLINE course plans to expand into Japan and South Korea soon. “We’re excited to help learners enhance their leadership potential,” says Kru Jaem, who originally chose to pursue a Bachelor of Education in English Language Teaching because of his friends’ influence. Since starting his teaching career in 2008, he has earned recognition for his effective methods, receiving training in IELTS instruction from IDP Australia and holding a TEFL certification from the London Teacher’s Training College. The program covers essential IELTS skills—Writing, Speaking, Reading, and Listening—offering live online sessions, recorded materials, and a placement test for tailored learning. “It’s incredibly rewarding to witness students achieving their aspirations,” he adds.
Kru Jaem founded Thinkin Cafe in Khon Kaen, Thailand, to address challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, initially focusing on English language classes.
