AfrikRising International School, located in Adu-Kofi, Adeiso, is making remarkable strides in its mission to provide quality education to children in 28 rural communities. Founded in September 2021 by Professor Christine Reidhead, the school began with humble roots, starting with just seven students and one teacher. Now, in its fourth year, the school has grown into a thriving learning community, with 154 students and 11 dedicated teachers. Let’s take a moment to celebrate some exciting new developments!
Exciting Milestones at AfrikRising
We are thrilled to announce several major milestones that have been achieved at AfrikRising International School!
- New School Bus: We’ve purchased a bus, which will greatly enhance our ability to transport students to and from school. Thanks to the support of a generous donor, Robyn Alexander. This is a game-changer for many families in the surrounding communities.
- Electricity Installation: The school now has electricity, which will vastly improve the learning environment and allow for better classroom experiences, as well as after-school programs. Thanks to the support of generous donors, Shane and Romalea Chatwin, Reese and Lachele Chatwin, Craig and Lexi Richins, and Boyd and Payton Chatwin.
- New 5-Classroom Building: We’ve completed construction on a 5-classroom building, providing much-needed space for our growing student body. Thanks to the support of a generous donor, Robyn Alexander. This new facility will enhance the learning experience for both teachers and students alike.
These incredible advancements wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of our donors and well-wishers. Special thanks to Robyn, Reese, Roma, Boyd, and Lexi for their generosity and commitment to our vision. Together, we are building a brighter future for the children in our communities.

Language Development in Early Education
As children embark on their educational journey, many may initially struggle with English. However, significant progress is typically observed by the end of the first term. Preschoolers begin to incorporate basic English vocabulary, familiarizing themselves with simple 2- and 3-letter words. Meanwhile, nearly 95% of students in the higher grades can read and articulate their thoughts in English with confidence.
In our upper classes, several students demonstrate impressive computer skills, proficiently typing, editing, and creating their own documents.
AfrikRising International School not only prioritizes English language acquisition but also emphasizes learning in subjects like math and science. Students engage in hands-on science lessons covering topics such as mixtures, plants, and the distinction between living and non-living things.
Our comprehensive curriculum includes subjects such as Math, English, Science, History, Religion, Computing, Ghanaian Language, and Creative Arts.
Inspiring Words from Founder and Director
As Director Francis Adu Afari so wisely said, “Education is the best inheritance you can give to your children.” This philosophy underpins everything we do at AfrikRising International School. We are not just providing knowledge; we are investing in the future of our students, empowering them to become the leaders and changemakers of tomorrow.
Christine Reidhead, the Founder of AfrikRising International School stated, “At AfrikRising, our mission is to provide children with the education they need to grow, learn, and unlock their full potential. We believe that education is the key to a brighter, more promising future.”
Our Journey So Far
AfrikRising International School was founded to address the pressing need for quality education among the less privileged children in rural areas. What began as a modest effort with seven students and one teacher has flourished into a dynamic institution that is now home to 154 students, led by a team of 11 passionate educators.
Our mission is simple yet profound: to give every child, regardless of their background, the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Through the support of our donors, staff, and the local community, we’ve been able to provide a nurturing environment where students can explore their potential and cultivate a love for learning.
Looking Ahead: Building a Brighter Future
As we celebrate these milestones, we remain focused on our goal of expanding and improving the educational experiences of our students. The road ahead is full of exciting opportunities, and we are determined to continue our growth. We are committed to offering the best possible resources, programs, and facilities to support the academic and personal development of our students.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Your support makes all the difference, and we are incredibly grateful for the impact you’ve helped us create. Together, we are shaping futures, one child at a time.
